Fine Arts
  • Art III and IV (1 credit each)
    Individualized and independent projects following a specific line of requirements will be required.  Both two and three-dimensional projects will be completed.

    Prerequisites:  Art I and II and Teacher Recommendation

  • Advanced Band (1 credit)
    Students develop an appreciation of good band music and develop advanced instrumental skills through study, rehearsal, and performance of various types and levels of instrumental music.  Students are involved in the rehearsal and performance of difficult band music in the marching band as well as concerts and competitions.  All performances are required.

    Prerequisite:  Permission of Band Director

  • Intermediate Band (1 credit)
    Intermediate band is open to any student with some previous experience in band that desires to improve their abilities in technical, rhythmical, and musical aspects in playing their instrument.  Students are involved in the rehearsal and performance of band music in the marching band as well as concerts.  All performances are required.

    Prerequisite:  Permission of Band Director

  • Beginning Chorus (1 credit)
    This course introduces the beginning student to the fundamentals of musicianship and basic vocal techniques and provides an opportunity for the remedial vocal student to strengthen their basic musical skills.

    Prerequisite:  Permission of Choral Director

  • Advanced Chorus (1 credit)
    This course is for the advanced choral student and is intended to perform at many school and public functions.  In addition to receiving advanced training in vocal and ensemble techniques, and studying a variety of choral literature and styles, this group will also perform at a large ensemble festival in stage and sight-reading events.  Performances will include concert, show, and stage performances.  Students are required to attend all scheduled performances, activities, and rehearsals held both during and after school.

  • Fine Arts Survey (1 credit)
    This no performance oriented class was created for college bound upperclassmen.  It consists of an overview of theater, music, dance, film and the visual arts.  Students are exposed to prominent examples in each field as they learn about the history, techniques and leading artists in each discipline.  Criteria are also taught that will help students to evaluate and enjoy encounters with the fine arts.

    Prerequisite:  Grades 11 and 12

  • Musical Theatre Workshop I (1 credit)
    This class is an introduction to the world of musical theatre, it’s forms, historical development, and works into the early 20th century.  Additionally, introductory studies of stage performances, theatre craft, and theatre technology are explored.  Participation and/or performance in departmental production is required.  This course is not drama or acting.

    Prerequisite:  Signed participation form.

  • Musical Theatre Workshop II (1 credit)
    This class is a continued study of forms, history, and works in 20th century musical theatre.  Theatre craft and technology are studied in greater detail.  Students are involved in production aspects of departmental performance.  Participation and/or performance in departmental production is required.  This course is not drama or acting.
